Piney Woods Wine Trail

When people think of the wine country of Texas, they often imagine the Texas Hill Country, but you don’t have to travel that far to find great Texas wines. The heat, humidity, and the acidic red dirt of East Texas produces some of the best sweet wines you have ever tasted. If you ask us, there is no better way to wile away a lazy afternoon then in one of the many tasting rooms within driving distance of the Carriage House Bed and Breakfast to be found on the Piney Woods Trail.

The Piney Woods Wine Trail is an up and coming wine region in Texas. We know that some wine connoisseurs turn their noses up at Texas wines and reach for a bottle of California wine but did you know that wines were being produced here in Texas 100 years before the first grapes were ever planted in California.  Texas is now the second largest wine travel destination in the country, right behind Napa Valley.

Many of the Piney Woods wineries are open for tastings throughout the week, and on weekends, many of these wineries have live music and a full menu.  During the summer months, several of these wineries have special events such as a South African Pig Roast and both red and white grape stomps.  Check with us to see if there is a special event going on during your visit.
