About Carriage House Bed and Breakfast

Offering Unique Jefferson Lodging Options

Relax and revive your soul at one of the most accommodating Jefferson lodging options among the area’s bed and breakfasts – and the only one located in the historic downtown area.

The Carriage House was built in 1920 and is filled with beautifully restored antique furnishings. After having been through many incarnations, the home was converted to a bed and breakfast in 2002 with many of the rooms being renovated in 2009 and 2010. Today this one-story home is both comfortable and welcoming. We hope you find it such a relaxing retreat from your everyday lives that we become one of your favorite Jefferson bed and breakfasts!

From the Innkeeper:

My name is Jessica Brooks and I am looking forward to being your hostess during your stay at the Carriage House. Before your stay here at the Carriage House Bed and Breakfast, I thought you might enjoy getting to know a little about me and my husband who helps with the running of the Bed and Breakfast.

I am originally from Baltimore Maryland where my mom came from a family of 11 brothers and sisters and my father came from a family with two brothers and a sister. My early years were influenced by my grandparents with German and Irish heritage where every holiday was filled with the warmth of family and the grace of amazing food from both cultures. When I was 10, my Mom and Dad along with three girls and the youngest sibling being the only boy were transferred to Amarillo, Texas. I have been in Texas ever since.

My husband, B.W. Brooks who is a native Texan says that I have been in the state long enough to earn honorary native Texan Status. I love everything about Texas and all of the varied types of life this big ole state has to offer along with every great little town it holds . We looked at several parts of the state before deciding on The Carriage House in Jefferson, Texas. When B.W. and I toured the property of the Carriage House, one of the things that struck me about The Carriage House and the City of Jefferson was the Family appeal. I come from a close knit family and those ties have always been important to me.

Talking about family, I have three lovely adult sons that I love and adore. I left them back in Lake Dallas where I just moved from to achieve my dream. They are always with me in my heart and they are very supportive. Of course, they get free rooms when they visit. My sister Paige believed in me enough that she helped me and invested in the property. This has helped me accomplish my dream of running a Bed and Breakfast.

The Carriage house was already one of the most popular B&B’s in Jefferson when we took over ownership. We believe in giving our guests an experience. An experience that is filled with new beginnings, first beginnings, beginnings you never thought of, and traditions to be made for futures to come. Couples, families, girlfriends, just a week end out with friends. There is no better place than a relaxing no worry place like Jefferson. The Property and the city have a unique, comfy, southern elegance and my goal is to make The Carriage House a destination for families and friends to enjoy whether it be family reunions, anniversaries, weddings, or just a getaway for a few days.

I have been in the hospitality and Food and beverage industry for over 34 years.After years of dedication to others, I decided that I needed to explore the Bed and Breakfast world. So about five years ago, we began our journey in hopes to find a place to call our own, and after a couple “almost” purchases and a lot of learning we found the Carriage House. Interestingly enough, this property was the first one I liked when we began our search five years ago, but we were looking to locate closer to the Hill country at the time so we did not pursue it. I am a firm believer in… if it is meant to be, it will happen. I truly feel blessed that I have this opportunity to share my dream of providing the kind of hospitality (and a little pampering) that I would expect to receive when choosing a place to stay.

Nothing makes me happier than knowing our guests are happy and satisfied. It makes my day when guests love the food we prepare so much they ask for the recipe, or when they tell us they enjoyed their overall experience so much they wish they did not have to leave. It also makes my week when I read the reviews people give The Carriage House on Trip Advisor.

Running The Carriage House in this great city of Jefferson with all its history, events and charm has been a dream come true! I have had wonderful times meeting all of the amazing people that come through the front door and I list my favorite moments as those where I get to sit and visit with my guests.

I invite you to come stay with me and allow me to help you unwind. Come sit on my beautiful wrap-around porch or in the warm and cozy parlor. Enjoy your morning coffee or sit by the fire pit in the courtyard with your favorite beverage while eating s’mores in the evening.

I can’t wait to meet you!
